To recognize the National School Lunch Program, Louisiana schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 10-14, 2022. The National School Lunch Program serves almost 30 million children every school day, giving students fuel they need to succeed. These lunches offer students fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, and healthy protein sources, while meeting federal nutrition standards by limiting fat, calories, and sodium.

The National School Lunch Week's theme for this year is "Peace, Love & School Lunch". Schools can participate by offering new nutritious menu items, decorating the cafeteria with fun NSLW posters, inviting the mascot or principal to guest serve lunch, and many more ways. It is a great time to involve the community, parents, and students while educating on the importance of nutritious school lunches.

The "Peace, Love & School Lunch Program" is made possible by the nonprofit School Nutrition Association. Parents and students can follow the fun by using the hashtag #NSLW22. For more information, read about National School Lunch Week.
